1958 Motorola 6X39A-2:

A wonderful radio, but it's so fat & clunky you'd think it was built to withstand a hurricane...

The two bands on this set are standard AM broadcast and longwave (just below the AM band, where weather beacons used to broadcast).

This is a 6 transistor radio, measuring 6 1/2" x 5" x 2 1/2". Its "antenna handle" has a presence all its own: Measuring roughly 7" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2", its cubic volume is large enough to contain an entire shirtpocket radio...
