1955 Emerson 849:

I think the Emerson 842, a leather lunchbox job, was the first Emerson transistor radio -- it was dull and dopey looking, and was marketed only a few months before this Emerson 849 was marketed. The 849 was Emerson's first plastic transistor radio, and a whole lot prettier than the 842.
