1959 GM Delco Oldsmobile transistor auto transportable:
3 3/4"H x 6 7/8"W x 1 3/4"D
The prettiest of several "transportables" --
A "transportable" radio was a transistor radio which belonged first & foremost underneath your car's dashboard -- but it was removable, portable, transportable -- you could take it on a picnic or to the beach if you wanted to, or place it on your desk or nightstand...
There were a half-dozen transportables, all apparently made for 1958 and '59 model Buicks, Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs: this Olds radio is gorgeous for its having a completely chromed face, very "hep"!
