1959 Ever Ready "Sky Personal"

Coat pocket radio, thermoplastic cabinet
5 3/4 x 3 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches / 146 x 89 x 44.5 mm
2-band MW/LW, six transistors
One tubular 9v battery
Manufactured by Ever Ready Co. (GB) Ltd.; London

This example is missing its "Sky Personal" badge on the upper right side of the speaker grille. I had assumed the grille itself originally had been white and had yellowed over time, but several internet sources say it was a "cream" color from the beginning. I think the brownish-colored "+ Transistor +" stamped into the bottom of the speaker grille keeps this set from being not all that memorable.

The Ever Ready is a two-band set, MW and LW, with both "bands" on the same tuning dial, dipping down to include 200 kHz (1500 meters), what was then BBC's "light Programme" channel.
