1959 ('58?) Continental TR-100

Shirt pocket radio, thermoplastic cabinet
4 1/4 x 2 5/8 x 1 3/8 inches / 108 x 67 x 35 mm
Four transistors (TEN: 2S30, 2S31, 2x 2S33, + TEN 1NA1G(?) diode), superheterodyne circuit
One standard 9-volt battery
Distributed by Continental Merchandise Co. Inc., New York
Manufactured by Sharp (Hayakawa Electric Co.Ltd.) Transistors made by TEN

Several sources tag this as a 1959 radio, but it may have been first produced in 1958.

The TR-100 came in at least four color combinations: The two examples shown in the photo directly below are (left) a pale blue face with a deep blue/pale blue underpainted tuning area and a deep blue cabinet back, and (right) a red face with a red/tan underpainted tuning area and an ivory cabinet back. Other color combinations included a pale gray face with a black tuning area and cabinet back, and a black face with a beige or ivory tuning area and cabinet back. The Continental TR-100 in any color is one of my very favorite pocket transistor radios.
