Surely one of the strangest radio cabinet designs ever conceived — are those two long-stemmed bulbs encirculating the tuning dial and volume dial supposed to be mushroom clouds? Named after the pre-NASA-era US Navy's Vanguard 1 rocket and its accompanying satellite, successfully launched into orbit in March 1958.
