Very similar to the 1956 Magnavox AM-2, Magnavox's first transistor radio, with a nearly identical cabinet other than for some minor alterations on its face -- and while the AM-2 was hand-wired with five transistors, the AM-5 had six transistors on a printed circuit board. A later version of the AM-2 appears to share exactly the same cabinet face as this AM-5.
Just a thought: Why was Magnavox's first transistor radio designated the "AM-2", and why was its second transistor radio the "AM-5"?
