A later iteration of the 1961 Royal 50H. Norm Smith's book, "Zenith Transistor Radios" states, "In an effort to use the remaining stock of old style Royal 50 cabinets, Zenith built the Royal 50K..."

I think the Royal 50K probably was produced in both 1962 and 1963, and the example here is from 1963. Norm Smith dates the 50K as a 1963 radio. Gary Ball's Zenith transistor radio web site dates the 50K as a 1962 radio. Some of the component codes on the example shown here are from 1962, but the label on the inside back face of this Royal 50K example is a dual label: "Royal 40 & 50K chassis 6KT43Z1" (see photo below). The Royal 40 was manufactured in 1963. I give up.
